Make this sweet and sour fruit with a dirty-sounding name your new go-to snack

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good orange, especially the flavorful Cara Cara variety but a man can only digest soo much citrus before he starts to feel bored. This spring step out of your produce comfort zone and try the kumquat. The incongruous fruit, whose name suggests something naughty, resembles a shrunken orange, yet the similarities end there. The kumquat’s origins date back to 12th Century China. And unlike most fruits, the rind is sweet and it’s the juice that’s tart.
Even more bizarre, you can (and should) actually eat the skin. After a quick rinse, just pop one (or five) in your mouth. Your tastebuds will thank you for a refreshingly sweet and sour rush. Sour Patch Kids can’t hold a candle to this bitter and honeyed bite-sized snack.
Kumquats are high in vitamin C, fiber and antioxidants. Five kumquats equal 100 calories, so they make a perfect mid-morning or afternoon snack if your tastebuds can stand it, that is.
