A dash of old Hollywood informality influences a men’s spring staple

Spring weather can be unpredictable. Cool one day, unseasonably warm the next. So, while the polo is a fashion staple in men’s wardrobes, you may be taking your chances if you break it out too soon in the season.

Thankfully the fashion gods have answered our prayers with the sweater polo, which is back in vogue. The sweater polo is exactly as it sounds – a polo shirt made out of weightier cotton yet retaining the casual cut and button-free “johnny” collar which opens up more like a V-neck and allows the collar to spread wider.

The beauty of the sweater polo is its versatility. Up your style game in the office and pair it with a pair of luxe trousers or pressed chinos. Working from home? Dress it down with a pair of denim or khakis.

This season, our favorites include this vintage-inspired geometric print by Bonobos (above) made from soft, breathable cotton yarn.
